Day 3: Crossing Saskatchewan
We were pleased with our accomplishment of crossing three provinces in a day. As we looked at the map, we realized that with enough commitment, we might achieve the same feat again, though it would be a challenging task. The day started with rather miserable weather; it had begun to rain, and everything was shrouded in mist.
This time, we skipped Moose Jaw and headed straight for Edmonton, passing through Saskatchewan. Surrounded by prairie landscapes, we made it to Saskatoon at a relatively fast pace. Once there, we enjoyed sizzling hot fajitas at Las Palapas Resort Grill, a Mexican restaurant. We were fortunate to arrive just as it opened at 11:30 am, as it quickly filled up. Initially, we planned to visit a relative who was on a trip to Canmore and expected to return later in the day. However, we informed her that we were ahead of schedule and heading to Edmonton. The remainder of the drive was relatively uneventful, and we continued on until we entered Alberta.
As we journey through Saskatchewan, we’re excited to make a stop in Saskatoon, a city we haven’t yet explored. While we won’t be spending much time there, we’re looking forward to a brief visit to experience its charm. After our stop, we’ll quickly continue our trek westward towards Alberta, eager to keep the momentum of our adventure going.
Back in 2014, we travelled along the Trans-Canada Highway through Saskatchewan, staying in Moose Jaw, where Al Capone had built part of his Mafia empire a hundred years ago. We participated in the Chicago Connection tour, which took place in the tunnels of Moose Jaw and showcased how alcohol was smuggled into the US during Prohibition.
For the next part go to Alberta
My youngest brother and his family live in Saskatoon and surrounding area. Hope you enjoy Saskatchewan.
