On our previous journey, we spent the night in a hotel in Winnipeg, taking a brief respite from the road. This time around, we’re looking to immerse ourselves more fully in nature. Whether it’s at a campsite or on Crown Land, our goal is to find a peaceful spot to rest under the stars. Our arrival time in Manitoba will largely depend on how far we travel through Ontario on the first day, but our only expectation is to find a good place to stay and enjoy the natural beauty around us. We’ll keep this page updated with our progress and experiences as we explore the heart of Manitoba.
Day 2 – Driving Through Manitoba
As we entered Manitoba via the Trans-Canada Highway, it felt like we had been transported to the German Autobahn. The highway expanded into two broad lanes, almost inviting us to speed up. However, we were careful to respect the speed limit and relied on our GPS to keep us in check. The highway led us to Winnipeg, where we transitioned onto Highway 16. This route took us from Saskatoon to Edmonton, eventually leading us to Dawson Creek in BC.
Highway 16 in Manitoba offered an unending view of the same clear sky and greenery stretching for miles on both sides as if we were trapped in a photograph. We occasionally spotted cows in the fields, tractors, large farming machines, and the occasional small town. However, we found Manitoba somewhat monotonous and moved through it quickly, reaching the Saskatchewan border as darkness fell. We managed to cross the Saskatchewan border before stopping and were proud of being in three provinces on the same day.
Go to Saskatchewan for the next part
Wow that’s a lot of places covered in three days. Gorgeous scenery pictures. Keep safe and enjoy every single moment. 💕💕
